The editorial desk

Every number on this site is owned by a named editor and traced to a primary source before it publishes. Here is who does the work and how the review actually runs.

Last reviewed 2026-09-02

Short answer

The desk is Ronnie Houk, a financial writer and lending researcher, sole editor of every guide on this site. Each page carries a byline and an updated date; state figures are sourced to statutes and regulators, lender facts to the lenders’ own disclosures, and unverifiable numbers read “not disclosed” rather than being estimated.

The editors

Ronnie Houk

Financial writer & lending researcher · reviewing state fee caps, statutes, regulator references, lender disclosures, and cost math · with the desk since August 2026

One editor, stated plainly: where many finance sites invent a “team of experts,” this site would rather show a single accountable name and let the sourcing stand in for the headcount.

What the desk does on every page

  1. Trace the rule: each state cap, fee formula and term limit is taken from the statute text or the regulator’s publication — both linked on the state page.
  2. Re-derive the math: worked examples are computed from the state’s own example loan, so tables on this site are arithmetic consequences of the statute, not estimates.
  3. Transcribe, don’t summarize, lender disclosures: amounts, APRs and exclusion lists come off the lender’s own site, with the verification date printed on the page.
  4. Mark the gaps: any figure a lender does not publish reads “not disclosed” — the gap itself is information.
  5. Date the page: when a statute or disclosure changes, the page changes and the updated date moves with it.

How to reach the desk

Corrections, regulator-bulletin tips and “your table disagrees with my contract” letters all go to [email protected]. The desk replies to every substantive report; anything that changes a page changes its date too. The full method lives in the editorial policy.

FAQ

Who writes and verifies the pages on One More Finance?

Ronnie Houk (Financial writer & lending researcher) writes and edits every guide on the site, with a primary-source pass before anything publishes: state numbers traced to statutes and regulators, lender facts traced to the lender’s own disclosures. There is currently one editor, and the site says so plainly rather than inventing a review board.

How do I report an error or a changed rule?

Email [email protected] with the page URL and the source you are citing. Factual fixes happen on the page where the error appears, and the page’s updated date moves. Statute and disclosure changes spotted in regulator bulletins get the same treatment.
